Went to the Universal Studios another time when my sis and uncle came to Singapore for a vacation.

Everything was great until we realised the tickets to the theme park was entirely sold out for the week. I started having mental fits when the management refused to release tickets for us, despite using keywords like 'tourists' and 'leaving tomorrow'. We took the sky train and went in anyway. Okay, black market guy approached, requested for $100 per ticket, nearly convulsed and died.

Somehow the bf and I managed to get the tickets at normal price because we found out a secret and it shall not be disclosed.

By the way that is my sis, she is thirteen, I am ten years older and we are both standing at 1.62,
with me weighing 100x more than her, fml.

It poured and practically turned shoes into fish tanks, it would've been great if it was sunny, rides and attractions were missed accompanied with runny noses.

I love theme parks by the way, I adore them.

I got this sleeved Maxi dress a few days back and was experimenting different ways to wear it.
With a vest, belted or a with tee on top, and I found a way to shorten it.

Yes, temporarily!

For ladies with a lose or moderate fitting maxi dress, there are two ways to wear it.

Put on safety shorts or boxers, it must be hugging and without lose cloth.

Tuck the hem of your Maxi evenly into your shorts, approximately an inch or two, and pull all excess fabric down. Now you have a second hem. Neaten the apparel and you have a shorter dress!

Rough week at work, drained.

I was caught off guard - having to complete work that is totally foreign and out of my capability in the bat of an eye, being degraded to a clerical position for a few hours a day and constantly judged.

In this abhorring corporate world, your worth is weigh accordingly to your work. Which in turn, is being scrutinized at every angle, judged by wrong, selfish and clouded perspective of your bosses to derive its value.

At that instant, I lost my identity and got brain washed.
My other world, the world that I've built for myself amongst love, kinship, my morale, my principles, my ambitions all crumbled and became oblivious. Just because, my worth and very being is evaluated (or degraded) by a higher power who is a half human, half robot cyborg. Nothing is more important except how much money you will be able to bring to the company.

This relentless pursue of worthiness is strangling my sanity, distorting my vision of all positive aspects of my job. The concrete jungle is ugly, yet millions of dreams are built upon it.

I'm keeping mine aside, there will be an exit from here.

Not bad, I wouldn't say he is my favourite. The other day I was looking for some amusement during work and I chanced upon the Mr World 2010 website and its contestants. My eyes and brain then apparently went on a emotional roller coaster ride for the next 30 minutes. I cannot believe and absorb the fact that some of these men were chosen to be a Mister in their own country (before being able to join Mr World). Of course, every country has its own definition of handsome, you know, rugged, long haired, etc.

Mr New Zealand:

Looks like a shepherd and a farmer, especially in the picture on the right.
And probably needs a diet.

Mr Kazakhstan:

Is about 2m tall and very primitive, did he just emerge from his tree house?

Two days back, I read somewhere that AirAsia was giving away 10 000 free tickets to Bangkok to help restore their tourism industry. The offer will start on 28th May which was Vesak Day.

I was so excited and hyped up, the thought of flying to BKK for FREE is pure happiness. So I made an effort to make sure I got home slightly before 12am that night and camped at Airasia.com refreshing every 5 seconds. The above banner appeared, I squealed with delight, clicked and it was a broken link. Fine. After roaming around for abit, it came to my realization that, only ONE way to Bangkok was free and to my utter dismay, return air ticket prices were jack-up. After all that crap, it was about $120 per person including airport taxes, just a $50 difference from the usual prices where you can choose whichever dates you want to fly.

So, no more BKK vacation after a discussion with the partner, because it wasn't such a GREAT deal after all.

My heart sank, I might be addicted to travelling and the thrill of being somewhere else other than Singapore. I was so disappointed I could've book a pair of tickets there and then despite the substandard discount.

This is a scheming marketing strategy of Airasia's.

First: Inform the press or some 3rd party source about the offer
Second: Make it convincing by stating reasons (eg.to bring Thailand back in shape)
Third: Set a date of release
Forth: Make it seem like it is a great deal with tough competition (eg. Offer available to Msia)
Fifth: Marketing campaign good to go!

Hopefuls will start anticipating, there is when EMOTIONS are involved.
When one realise that the offer is not that fab after all, tickets will still be bought due to the longing and anticipation of going on a trip.

"Oh we still have to pay, but I really, really want to go on a holiday. There is a discount after all right? It is better than nothing, so let's go!"

Shit.
For someone who does advertising and media to fall for such a trick, I shouldn't have harbour high hopes for a FREE deal. I knew we had to pay somehow, I imagined it to be just $60 for taxes.

Lesson learnt, but heck. Everyday new concepts and advertising strategies are being thought of, how long can one not succumb to any of them and can come to terms with their inner consumer wants?

Last month, I went to Hong Kong, to fulfil my promise of an annual trip.
It had been 2 years, went to Bangkok last year instead.

It struck me everytime, how awesome my folks are. I am not sure if this is due to seeing them once a year. And if this fondness will fade if I live there permanently, because we take people for granted when they are of reach. I am constantly thinking of my gramps, how that day will come when they are no longer around and I am miles away in SG.

Kills me over and over again.

The streets of HK are so fascinating, surprises await at every turn, every corner. The shops that stay open til the wee hours of the morning. The city that never sleeps. How the guys there dress awesomely, everyone is like a star.

I went around alone most of the time. The solitary was poignant. I am alone, yet there was no feeling of loneliness, every negative feeling is being engulfed by the glittering night lights. The only negativity comes from the thought of having to come back to Singapore. Harsh reality.

I brought my sis to the TWINS concert. It was full house.

Though it was April, but it was freezing (to me).

My favourite food - the dim sum in HK is of a standard that a normal chinese restaurant in SG will never attain, unless in some every expensive place.

I can eat this for a lifetime.

I haven't seen a woman, I mean, kid, who has got such a foul mouth. It is so foul and repulsive, you'll be surprised. It's cruelty and crudeness at its best.

The most remorseful thing is that, that kiddo's current boyfriend is a nice guy. Easy-going, pleasant and all. A good natured person blinded by love for evil's greatest piece of work. Wow, seriously. Such juxtapositing of nature and character, the combination is nothing like I've seen through-out my entire life. Good guys should be with decent girls, not online frauders.

because I'm in heaven.
Shopping and food heaven to be exact.
Hong Kong is much colder than expected, I was traumatized by the wave of cold air which greeted me when I exited the airport.

Today, I had the best meat ball noodle ever and yesterday, the best beef ramen. Cheap.
Both at around SGD $5

I went to Mong kok today and so did the rest of the HK population. It was mad. H&M's fitting room queue was like a dragon. So I have got a new strategy to my shopping plans. Start 11am on Monday to 3 storey H&M at Central.

Tomorrow will be to the Salon, which namecard I lost. I guess I have to hunt for it on the streets of Jordan.

Oasis of the seas and a Martini in hand

The largest cruise ship in the world is nothing you've ever seen.
It is magnificent. It is twice the weight of Titanic and can hold up to 6000 passengers.
The cruise itself has got amenities like a mini golf course, multiple night clubs, several bars and lounges. Also, theme parks for children, FOUR SWIMMING POOLS, volleyball court, etc.

The most interesting thing would be the tattoo parlour. Imagine some douche bag dead drunk and wakes up the next morning with some random woman's name at his pubes! I think it is paradise, vegas, france all merged into one. The project costs US 1.4 Billion.

Be amaze and start swooning now.

After viewing the above pictures and going through the list of amenities of Oasis, my desire to board the Star Cruises which every Singaporean knows of becomes zero. Not that I wanted to badly, anyway.

The thought of a 3 day vacation on the Oasis of the seas with a significant being is quite pleasing. Both of us will be 'confined' on the ship, there will be no maps to navigate, no quarrels over going south or north. Solely spending time frolicking the decks and trying to conceive, if needed then. We'll have a race on the indoor tracks to burn off that mega huge sundae.

Of course, we'll be cruising along the amazing Carribean sea, nowhere polluted.

Youth Burberry-ians

Models are Emma Watson, Alex Watson (Emma's brother), Max Hurd, George Craig and Matt Gilmour. All of them young.

Burberry spring summer 2010 campaign. Gorgeous collection, fantastic pictures and wonderful lighting. Lots of buckles involved, high-waisted trench coats, something that'll fit into the concrete jungle perfectly.

Besides the point, colleague was mentioning about why it is not feasible to feature young celebrities / models like them, because younger consumers have got no spending power. They will not be able to relate to these ads as most of them cannot afford Burberry products.

I gave a thought and came up with the conclusion that it is not so much of the latter that matters, as Burberry is a very established high-end fashion brand that has been around for some time. There will be no mistakes and misconception regarding its brand placement and target audience. In this campaign, emotional selling is definitely the case. Using youth and fame to sell its products.

To be able to reach the point whereby wealth is of abundance or in control, target audience of Burberry, which I believe will be more of women (aged 25 and above) will start on the relentless pursue of youth. The influx of plastic surgeons, botox fillers and surgery all gone wrong proves it. The older consumers will feel a need to be connected to younger fashion trends, buying a brand featuring younger models will fulfil an emotional need, filling up a void somewhere. Yet, they will still bear the knowledge that Burberry does not necessary cater to younger consumers as it has a signature print and elegant style that is widely versatile. There will be no decrease in sales for this season.

The effect the campaign have on teenagers benefit Burberry in a way that it conjures a feeling of brand liking via the Harry Potter starlet, being very famous and being on Forbe's list of wealthier young people. Fans will notice the brand more and end up liking it, partly due to how great the ads look as well. And if they happen to be too obsess with the brand later on, meals will be skipped to save up for the bags. Of course, that is a negative effect.

I am sure there are other advertorials and brand campaigns around that feature teen celebrities in them, be it a strategy or simply attention-hungry. I will know its impact when my skin starts to sag.

Teeth, they make first impressions.
They can make someone faint, cringe, be in uber shock, traumatise, lose their brains, jump for joy, et cetera.

I used to have really bad teeth. They were atrociously misaligned. I didn't know how anyone could've love me like that or befriend me. The reason why I took so long to correct them was money issues. I didn't know we can pay by installment plans. It was ridiculous. I secretly hate my mum for it. You wouldn't understand.

Anyway, my dentist gave me this brown cardboard box and told me to keep it safely for her because they are moving, incase it got broken and all. I opened it and saw teeth moulds, wicked clay structures of the upper and lower rows.

They were so crooked you've thought I've got some gum or bone disease.
I underwent surgery and removed 8 teeth at one go. 4 wisdom teeth all pre-emerged, with one literally kissing my jaw nerve. Which made it very dangerous to remove, permanent jaw numbness and all that crap. I didn't suffer much pain afterwards surprisingly and healed really well. The bitch was the IV that was pierced through my delicate skin and into a vein.

It has been 8 months now. I love the brace and the fuss of occasionally getting confuse over what colours should the bands be and if it will clash with most of my clothes.
I love such redundant woes. It keeps me from getting Youth Dementia.

Taken few days back. Not perfect yet, but a HUGE difference can be seen. Metal work wonders.
When your arm or bone breaks, metal connectors serve as a brace. Same goes for lose bone joints, metal ball bearings are used. And of course architecture, needless for any explanation.

I think it is hilarious, it is stomach-ache inducing.

5 Designers in a company and non of them back-up their files.

One fine day, one hard disk, named Seagate decided to be defiant and died. It must've hated me because it did not show any sign of depression or struggle. It just decided to die, carrying my many months of sweat and blood. And so I said, "release those chains!" which bounded the artworks, I brought it to some shop in Funan. But Seagate did not succumb and surrender.

Currently, it is in some professional recovery lab going through major surgery and evaluation. And if everything goes okay, Seagate will receive the death sentence while my files will be freed from its evil clasp.

I am praying to whoever that is up there for:

1) My files being able to be retrieved
2) The cost will not go above $500
3) Seagate to get the death sentence without my files. Will vanquish it.

I'll let you know again. Meanwhile, I'm frolicking in pain. The pain of losing everything and not being able to work much. And how excruciating it is to think of those projects that I'm so proud of, that I may never see them again.

ChinGAY 2010

The Chingay parade is sort of Singapore's annual Chinese New Year celebration with live performances, dance and music. The highlight every year - lighted and beautifully decorated, themed vehicles which are accompanied by dancers and performers in atrociously colourful costumes.

This year's fall on my birthday, I went, absorbed the vivacious atmosphere and got blinded by colours. I was in awe 90% of the time and I found out something that is subtle but important, I bet not many noticed it...

You know what that means don't you? Rainbow flags and objects are a representation of Gay Pride.

So, we can all assume that Singapore is Pro-Gay and we should all be. But of course, this is personal preference.

There were fireworks and crazy confetti shower at the end which might have caused the current global warming, but I think it was all recycled paper, so it is all cool, no trees were cut down.

I am officially 23 and painfully afraid of aging. The horror of reaching 30, where roses (women) slowly start to wilt. But fred not (not so much)! With improving technology, by then, there will be something that will be able to retain my supple and taut complexion.

If you adore them and your happy colour is yellow, an undeniable shade of yellow will show even if you mix all twenty of them together. Once in awhile, your yellow will be tinted with a hint of black because an asshole (might be your boss) is causing you distress.

Still, a fresh fusion of yellow will be seen the next day.

The skyscraper in Dubai which now owns the title 'tallest man-made structure ever built'. Standing at 828 m (2,717 ft), it was officially opened on the 4th of January 2010.

Upon Completion. With this being in Dubai, I believe all steels and skeletal materials used are of the best.

While very much of interior designs and homes are going towards the contemporary feel, zen and monotonous colours, the Burj uses loud and contrasting shades. Very bold with mixing the extremes of warmth and cool. If you look closely, you will spot middle-eastern elements everywhere (think of a mosque's dome), very appropriate given its location, in Dubai itself. Contrasting colours are always a faux pas to me, other than complimenting each other, they are mostly fighting for attention. If given a chance, I will op to stay at the Armani Hotel instead, yes, Mister Giorgio Armani's hotel is located in the Burj itself as well.
